Alex Brown

My name is Alex brown I'm in year 9 at Brimsham Green School and I enjoy
cooking and playing video games. I will use one of my skills to listen to young
people so I can represent the young people of South Gloucestershire. My
campaign is to reduce bullying and provide better quality youth centres.

Many pupils across the UK are being called names, being used as punch bags in
the apparent safety of the own school. In my campaign I will mostly running not
to stamp out bullying as no-one can actually do that, but to reduce it considerably.
The main reason I want to reduce bullying is because I was bullied. All across the
nation, little kids and teens are being bullied so much worse than I was.

I also want to raise awareness of cyber bullying where kids are having verbal abuse
hurled at them from their monitors. I see cyber bullies as cowards as they never
have to look at the person they are bullying. We can reduce bullying by making
people aware of the implications and consequences. For example, depression,
loneliness and becoming bullies themselves.

I will represent young people by collecting opinions and through receiving letters anonymously or not from people being bullied; I will relate them to my own experiences and reply to them.

I would also like to focus on better quality youth centres, so that teenagers and
children can go there for help with things that may be bothering them. To do this
I would find out what teenagers and children want from youth centres by
collecting the ideas and voting on what should go in these centres.
It's time to get our voices heard
